The role: Opportunity for a Claims Handler to join a boutique insurance law firm in their Professional Indemnity team in Bristol.
As a Claims Handler, you will manage a caseload of professional indemnity claims for insurer clients across various delegated authority schemes.
These claims involve defending professionals such as accountants, architects, engineers, solicitors, IFAs, and surveyors.
Your responsibilities will include: Handling claims from initial notification to settlement, rebuttal, or transfer outside the scheme.
Reviewing new claims, assessing liability, quantum, and coverage, and setting appropriate strategies.
Adjusting strategies as claims progress and developments arise.
Assisting clients by drafting letters, approving correspondence, instructing experts, and negotiating settlements.
Compiling monthly management information and assisting with billing.
Supporting business development and marketing alongside qualified fee earners.
The ideal candidate: Educated to degree level or equivalent Previous experience of handling professional indemnity claims and handling (pre-litigation) aspects of a file Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, good negotiating skills A confident, assertive yet friendly telephone manner Able to prioritise a busy workload whilst working to SLA deadlines Good IT literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel A willingness to find practical, innovative and commercial solutions
