Details of the offer

Floating Support Worker
Job description
This post is not suitable as a job share opportunity.
We are looking for two experienced and committed support workers to provide high quality support to customers who have recently moved into a new tenancy or who are struggling.
You will help customers to get off on the right foot, to sustain a tenancy and to prevent tenancy breakdown or future homelessness.
You will have excellent communication skills to build positive relationships with customers and identify support needs, as well as working with other services.
This may include working with customers with a range of issues including substance use, mental ill-health, and reluctance to engage with support services.
An assertive and creative approach will be essential to help customers thrive in their tenancy.
You will work in the community visiting customers in their own homes and accompanying them to appointments with other services where appropriate.
These are 12 month fixed term posts, although may be extended subject to funding arrangements.
If you are an internal candidate interested in applying for this job as a secondment opportunity, please discuss with your current line manager before submitting your application.
City of York Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development.
