Job summary The Children's services in Oxford are recruiting part time and full time band 5 nurses to work within our supportive teams.
There are band 5 positions available amongst all of our diverse specialities within the Children's Hospital.

Main duties of the job The main role of band 5 Registered Nurse will be: 1.
Provide exceptional patient care which is underpinned by the best evidence based practice 2.Maintain and develop high standards of nursing care, reflecting the professional nursing practice and patient care 3.

Job description Job responsibilities Please read below for specific ward information: Robins Wardis the specialist surgery ward caring for children requiring craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate, plastics, ENT and Neurosurgery.
The Hospitals Theatre Direct Admission service also runs from Robins Ward.
There are many opportunities for gaining specialist skills and further development.
Kamrans Wardcares for Children of all ages receiving treatment for cancer or haematology conditions.
There is lots of opportunity for professional development within this speciality and the well established team is supportive and progressive Bellhouse Drayson Wardprovides care for children aged 0-12yrs with all medical conditions specialising in Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Cardiology and Respiratory medicine as either elective or emergency admissions.
There are close links with Childrens CDU and Childrens ED.
The team are cohesive and supportive in providing high quality care on a busy acute ward.
Childrens CDUis a 24 hour unit which links closely with childrens Emergency Department to provide care for children from a range of specialities who need further assessment, observation, continuation of treatment or to await results.
The unit also sees GP referrals and ward attenders whichgives varieddynamics tothe busy is friendlyandensures the cohesive team works closely together and provides strong support and opportunities to develop.
Melanies Wardcares for the older patients from 12 years through to transition at 18 years.
The work is varied and interesting as it covers all specialities seen in Oxford including psycho-social and mental health aspects of care.
Patients are admitted both electively and as emergencies and the work is never dull!
Melanies Ward team are versatile and supportive with a strong emphasis on team work.
Toms Wardis a large, busy surgical unit caring for children requiring both elective and emergency surgical treatment.
The Ward specialises in Neonatal surgery, orthopaedic, spinal and general surgery.
As with all the Wards, Clinical Educators support the professional development of team members.
The Ambulatory careservice sees patients in two Outpatient departments and the Childrens Daycare Ward.
Children have day case surgery, investigations or treatment for a wide variety of conditions.
The friendly team work efficiently and cohesively to manage the busy throughput of patients.
Paediatric Critical Care (PCC) PCC provides tertiary level intensive care and high dependency care to the children of Oxford and the Thames valley region.
We care for a case mix of 016-year-olds who require emergency and planned care for a wide range of conditions, including respiratory, neurological, cardiology (medical), cancers, trauma, and surgery.
PCC has a childrens outreach service, which supports Childrens care through the whole of the Childrens hospital.
And a shared retrieval service as part of SORT (Southampton and Oxford retrieval Team).
We have structured education and development opportunities and a really supportive team.
The Horton The childrens ward at the Horton General Hospital is a small and friendly paediatric unit which looks after a variety of specialities from medicine to surgery.
They care for children from 0-18 years age of age, have 14 beds and have dedicated day surgery lists up to 4 times a week.
Every day is different and the Childrens ward strives to offer the best quality family centre care they can.
You would be supported by a team of band 6s, experienced band 5 nurses and ward sisters to aid your development enabling you to develop your skills.

UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post.
Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an NMC revalidation or equivalent.

Leadership and Management Desirable criteria Previous experience in the relevant specialty Previous experience of managing clinical incidents and complaints.
