Job summary Are you a highly experienced Children's physiotherapist who is looking for a new challenge?
An exciting opportunity is available for someone who wants to develop their leadership and management skills within the Children's Physiotherapy Team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust.
This is a 30 hour/week permanent post.TheChildren's Physiotherapy Team leader will work with the Children's TherapyService Lead to ensure delivery of a high quality, patient centred and outcomefocussed Physiotherapy service within Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospital NHSTrust.TheTeam Lead will manage a cross-site team of Physiotherapists and TechnicalInstructors in an operational role.
They will carry out supervisions,appraisals, HR tasks and staff/service development as appropriate.
They willalso act as a link between the team and Service Lead and will role model goodpractice, clinical expertise and provide good leadership.
Thisrole also involves a close collaboration with Clinical Leads and other TeamLeads (SLT and OT) within Childrens Therapy to promote an ethos of continuousdevelopment and joint working.
Main duties of the job To assist the Service Lead in the delivering ofservice strategy and objectives on a day to day basis, planning, co-ordinating,delivering and evaluating the therapy service provided.To manage and lead the designated team, offering clinicaland management support and advice.To provide, leadership, supervision, training andappraisal for the designated team of staff.To assist in the planning, development and evaluation ofthe service, holding responsibility for defined projects to develop servicesfor patients using the service as agreed with the Service Lead.
To work closely with other members of the hospital teamto provide a co-ordinated service for patients within the Trust.To contribute to the Trust andtherapy service clinical governance arrangements and quality agenda,including the setting and monitoring of practice standards.To lead on clinical governance issues within relevantareas.To lead on monitoring capacity and caseload issues forthe Children's Physiotherapy Team, planning staffing and services.Initiate and promote excellence inclinical practice acting as a role model within every team you work within About us We are an acute trust caring for over half a million people in Wakefield and Kirklees.

Job description Job responsibilities To ensure quality and standardsof clinical care of patients treated within designated team, and to organisethe team to deliver this effective and efficient care with regard to clinicalpriorities and use of time.To ensure safe delivery of allclinical practice across your team.
At timesthere may be a requirement to be involved in clinical practice to support increasepressures across the Childrens Physiotherapy team.
This will involve thefollowing clinical duties: Undertake the comprehensiveassessment of paediatric patients, including those with a complex presentation,using investigative, analytical & advanced skills and devise individualisedmanagement and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning and utilising a widerange or treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme ofcare.
Interpretand analyse complex clinical and non-clinical facts to form comprehensive careplan in a wide range of highly complex conditions, to recommend the best courseof intervention and develop comprehensive treatment plans in paediatricpatients.
Be professionally and legallyresponsible and accountable for all aspects of own work including themanagement of patients in your care.Working to professional standards to ensure a high standard of clinicalcare for the patients under your management and support staff within thedesignated team to do likewise.
Provide spontaneous and plannedadvice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other multi-agencyprofessionals, to promote understanding of the aims of interventions and toensure a consistent approach to patient care.
Communicate effectively withpatients, families and the MDT to maximise outcomes and ensure understanding ofcondition.
Communication skills of persuasion, motivation and explanation toencourage patients, families and schools to undertake their treatmentprogramme.
Use verbal and non-verbalcommunication skills to gain informed consent with patients where there willoften be barriers to effective communication loss of hearing, alteredperception, expressive or receptive dysphasia, pain, fear, confusion, criticalillness, pain, memory loss.
Assess capacity, gain validinformed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework withpatients or carers who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
Undertake clinical decisionmaking and practice as an autonomous clinician.

Person Specification Knowledge and Awareness Essential - Evidence of relevant ongoing professional and clinical development - Understanding of current NHS Policy direction & service modernisation - Understanding current policy, statute and guidelines pertaining to childrens therapy services.

- Substantial experience of promoting excellence within Childrens Therapy through leading on clinical governance activities.
- Substantial experience dealing with safeguarding cases and engagement with safeguarding practice.
