Chief Financial Officer

Details of the offer

Chief Financial Officer [CFO] | South Yorkshire Region | £120,000 - £150,000 + comprehensive suite of benefits including valuable equity potential & bonus etc.
The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below.
The Opportunity This is an absolutely game-changing opportunity for an aspirational CFO / FD locally.
You'll be part of an extremely exciting and rewarding PE-backed expansion journey within a highly ambitious and forward-thinking SME.
You are joining at a perfect juncture – private equity investment aimed at super-charging further growth is imminent.
You'll be landing at ground zero and therefore have a relatively unique and rare opportunity to be involved in the growth cycle from point of investment to lucrative exit.
You'll join the executive board as CFO – working closely with the aspirational and talented Group MD and the PE group from the outset.
Working in a steady-state SME that trundles along one year to the next, or working in a distressed business can be energy-zapping and demoralising… this is the complete antithesis.
It will be an exciting ride and there is clear, unequivocal appetite to invest in well-managed, rapid expansion and ultimately a successful exit.
This isn't a business that is plodding along and hoping that PE investment & expertise will magically create unseen opportunity.
They are already delivering consistent enviable growth.
They have already done plenty of the hard yards required to get them on this upward trajectory.
They also aren't an SME that is simply threatening to make acquisitions, they aren't kicking tyres and forever mulling it over or 'nearly making it happen'… they are already putting their money where the mouth is - getting deals done - smoothly, decisively and extremely successfully.
They have the core infrastructure, internal talent, service & product offering, reputation, customer base and proven model to allow them to get to £50m+ turnover and beyond.
High profile, leading investors with a proven track record will simply allow this to happen faster and more efficiently!
This is a CFO role which is right in the thick of the action and not for someone who prefers to glare down from their ivory tower.
However, it is absolutely strategically focused – a key voice in the C-suite and a vital sounding board for all strategic decision making.
Alongside the MD / Board you will be navigating the interesting twists, turns and growing pains that will come with this type of 4-5 year project.
This isn't a role for an FD who just wants to put a firm hand on the tiller and navigate calm seas.
It's not for a seasoned FD who just enjoys keeping things ticking along and maintaining status quo.
This is for someone excellent.
Someone outstanding.
Someone special.
Someone with high ambition, someone who enjoys positive change, someone who can influence direction… someone champing at the bit – probably someone already doing a cracking job….
but looking for that challenge that will really get their juices flowing.
It's for someone who wants to make a real difference; to the business they work in, the directors and investors they partner with and ultimately to themselves.
It's a chance to be part of a mega journey and it's expected your hard work & efforts will ultimately be recognised with a chunky 6 / 7 figure equity-linked reward package at the end of the initial cycle.
What the business is looking for A highly credible, bright, ambitious qualified FD / CFO able to demonstrate a track record of excellence in your career to date.
You will likely have started a career within a top tier accounting firm before making the step to industry and already be operating as number 1 in finance (either within a division or subsidiary of a large group or within an independent SME).
An intelligent, commercially aware, insightful, driven and strategically aware individual.
Someone with high career ambition, fire in the belly and a natural enthusiasm for working in an acquisitive business looking to scale swiftly.
M&A experience is required – experience of 360-degree acquisition / getting businesses 'sale ready' / associated DD etc / successful exit ideally.
Someone able to coach and lead others confidently, professionally and impactfully.
You must be collaborative and comfortable working closely with (and presenting to) PE, business owners & senior leadership teams (within the current structure and future acquisition businesses).
This will be an incredible 4-5 years for the right person.
Genuinely exciting and hugely rewarding from start to finish.
