Working pattern: This role is not expected to be based in the office full time, and the exact working pattern will be negotiated.
The School Library Association (SLA) is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) which supports schools develop their school library, establish a reading culture and deliver independent learning skills. We believe that all schools should have their own (or shared) staffed library to help all children and young people fulfil their potential.
A new CEO is sought to work closely and openly with the board of trustees and a team of talented and committed staff at our offices in Swindon. The successful applicant will have a great opportunity to make a step change to the commercial and reputational trajectory of the Association.
They will represent the charity across the UK, building strong commercial networks, identifying opportunities for growth, business development and diversification. Furthermore, the role will be ultimately accountable for the operational running of the Association, to ensure legal, regulatory and financial compliance.
The successful applicant must be a 'people-centred' leader who believes that success is achieved by enabling others to achieve their potential. Engagement with – and growing of – will be very important. Having a passion for school libraries, children's literacy and children's books will be essential.
