The School Library Association (SLA) is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) which supports schools develop their school library, establish a reading culture and deliver independent learning skills. We believe that all schools should have their own (or shared) staffed library to help all children and young people fulfil their potential.
We currently have over 2500 full and free members and are the first port of call for schools and individuals wanting advice, resources and training. We support schools to overcome their barriers - including time, money and space, amongst others – to ensure that no child gets left behind on their reading journey.
Position OverviewA new CEO is sought to work closely and openly with the board of trustees and a team of talented and committed staff at our offices in Swindon. The successful applicant will have a great opportunity to make a step change to the commercial and reputational trajectory of the Association.
Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent the charity across the UK, building strong commercial networks.Identify opportunities for growth, business development, and diversification.Be ultimately accountable for the operational running of the Association, ensuring legal, regulatory, and financial compliance.Qualifications and SkillsThe successful applicant must be a 'people-centred' leader who believes that success is achieved by enabling others to achieve their potential. Engagement with – and growing of – will be very important. Having a passion for school libraries, children's literacy, and children's books will be essential.
