Full time, 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday).
Flexibility is required to cover gaps and pre-arranged weekend and out of hours essential works
Permanent Competitive salary per annum + excellent benefits We're looking for a Chief Engineer to join our Estates team based at The Wellington Hospital.
Within this role, you will ensure that engineering/maintenance services are delivered to the highest possible standards and meet the requirements of the hospital.
What you'll do: Implement a planned prevention programme of maintenanceRespond to unplanned and emergency maintenance requests, prioritising workloads for an efficient and effective serviceWork within statutory and hospital policies and practices, ensuring safetyManage a team of engineersCarry out Risk assessment, advising the management on legislative and preventive actionsEnsure 24-hour maintenance cover for the hospitalLiaise with external contractors and monitor work performanceIdentify and cost materials, with responsibility for low cost orderingProvide technical guidance and advice to hospital departments/staffEnsure that equipment is audited and documentedAdvise Estates Manager/CFO on deficiencies in system and contribute to strategic planning of replacement/repairEnsure all PPMs documentation and actions arising from Statutory/ Mandatory inspections are carried out in a timely manner and documented for evidence purposesAttend meetings in Estates Managers absence as and when requiredWhat you'll bring: Training in relevant discipline e.g.
Mechanical engineering degree or extensive experience, Plumbing / NVQExtensive engineering experience within a Hospital or similar organisation is essentialManagement experience desirableGood general knowledge and understanding of all disciplines within building servicesHealth and Safety, COSHH, HVAC, Water, Electrical etcExcellent communication skillsWhy HCA UK?
