CK Group are recruiting for a Chemist, on behalf of a biotech company to support the delivery of the company's R&D objectives.
This role will be based at their site in Cambridge, on a temporary basis with the potential of going permanent. The Role This lab-based role will initially focus on supporting the development of novel polymers for use as polymersomes for drug delivery, with a heavy preference for some experience of controlled polymerisation methods, purification and analysis techniques. Responsibilities: Design and synthesis: Under supervision of the Senior chemist, perform synthesis of amphiphilic copolymers with tailored properties suitable for nanoparticle formation and drug delivery.
Characterisation: Characterise copolymers using a variety of techniques such as NMR, GPC, + HPLC to ensure their quality and performance.
Documentation and analysis: Document all experimental procedures, results and observations meticulously.
Analyse and interpret data accurately to generate reports for internal use.
Research and innovation: Stay up to date with the latest relevant research into polymer chemistry and drug delivery.
Contribute to regular chemistry meetings and brainstorming sessions to establish clear plans for future development of established and novel IP.
Collaboration: Work closely with the chemistry team to ensure smooth communication of both positive and negative results.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols and maintain clean and organised workplace.
Comply with all regulations and ethical standards in R&D. Laboratory Management: Manage the smooth running of the chemistry lab.
Ensure that stocks are adequately maintained and the all systems are operational for projects to continue.
Your Background: A minimum of a master's degree in Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry.
Knowledge of basic chemistry synthesis + purification techniques.
Basic knowledge of some polymer analytical techniques such as NMR, GPC and HPLC.
Methodical mindset with ability to follow SOPs/experimental procedures.
Desirable skills Previous experience working on Industrial R&D projects.
A background in synthesising polymers or other oxygen free reactions.
Experience in nanoparticle formation or drug delivery.
Experience working with novel technologies in a Biotech environment.
