A skilled and diverse board is key to our success, and we are now seeking an external chairperson to join the team to support, challenge and drive forward our business development strategy.

Salford Professional Development Ltd (SPD) was formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Salford in 2012 and provides non-accredited learning and commercial focus to the University of Salford.
SPD focuses on continuous professional development and training courses across a range of subjects It also delivers several events and conferences and is building its international presence in conjunction with the university's priorities, preferably but not exclusively, aligned with programmes offered by the University of Salford.
SPD operations also includes Unitemps, a recruitment agency which matches students, graduates and local people to jobs within the university and wider community.
You will be an experienced Chair with strategic expertise, who can offer a diverse perspective on business growth and innovation.
Preferably with experience within the education/ training sector, but most importantly you can provide valuable insight into current trends and future opportunities which contribute to the strategic success of SPD.
You will also Act as an ambassador for SPD, promoting SPDs interests and proactively seeking opportunities to expand its client portfolio .
On a practical level, there are approximately four half-day board meetings per year and occasional ad hoc board meetings as required.
The board meetings are either held in person in Salford or virtually.
The role would ideally be suited to someone who resides within the Northwest.
The role is remunerated.
Successful applicants should already be operating at senior board level, and able to demonstrate a range of skills and experience including values-based leadership, commercial experience with strong business development skills, governance and strategic growth.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential in this role.
