Job Description Northstone Materials is one of the leading quarry, Civil Engineering and road contractors operating in Northern Ireland.
Due to continuous growth the opportunity has arisen for a permanent role as Central Despatch Operator based at our Ballymena site.
About The Role Job Description As Central Despatch Controller you will primarily be responsible for organising RMC despatch for several Northstone concrete plants across the province as part of a team.  The role will also require you to provide administrative and office support services as may be required.
The successful applicant will also be expected to be involved in other activities from time to time as required by Senior Management Team.
Specific Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate activities of employees engaged in the production and transport of concrete products.
Receive orders for concrete products and as required provide prices or elevate to the commercial team.
Manage customer queries and ensure customer requirements are fulfilled Liaise with plant production and yard personnel to establish delivery schedules according to factors such as truck capacities, distances to delivery site, and unloading time.
Determine types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required according to work orders or specifications.
Prepare delivery tickets, and related shipping documents and assign drivers for scheduled deliveries.
Advise personnel about traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, and other hazards.
Maintain contact with drivers to expedite deliveries.
Ensuring efficient use of the available fleet of concrete delivery trucks (owned and hired) Monitor personnel or HGVs to coordinate delivery schedules.
Respond to all phone calls for ready mix concrete.
Relay work orders, messages, and information to Concrete Dispatchers, Production Managers, and Concrete Supervisors.
Record and maintain files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.
Undertake administrative duties such as compilation of reports, record keeping and document management Stock management and reconciliation.
Comply with the Organisation's health and safety policy.
Any other duties as required by senior management   Personal Profile At least 6 months prior experience working within transport logistics, including scheduling of work is essential; Prior knowledge of concrete despatch and computerised despatch systems, particularly Command Alkon, would be advantageous; Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Excel and Word; Independent decision- maker who can prioritise conflicting demands; Strong understanding of Concrete mix design; Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal; Excellent telephone manner essential; Full and Clean Driving Licence; Reliable and dependable with a flexible approach to work and working hours; Self-motivated.
Able to demonstrate initiative whilst in a team environment; Sound understanding of Health & Safety matters.

Desired Criteria Prior knowledge of concrete despatch and computerised despatch systems Required Criteria Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Excel and Word Strong understanding of Concrete mix design.
