Cell Failure Analysis Engineer

A Midlands based battery cell research and manufacturing centre is currently looking for a Cell Failure Analysis Engineer to join their team.
The successful candidate will be focused on cell failure analysis, testing and characterisation using various electrochemical and physical characterisation techniques for the organisation's baseline products as well as customer products.
The Cell Failure Analysis Engineer will: Cell teardown and failure analysis using various electrochemical and physical characterization techniques.
Development of methodology and techniques to identify failure modes in cells.
Root cause analysis of various problems appearing during manufacturing process of cells leading to sub optimal cell performance.
Cell performance analysis and propose methods to improve the performance.
Create technical reports for customer projects as well as internal projects.
Work with multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists and technicians.
Liaise with customers and external test houses.
Report writing and presentations both internally and externally.
The Cell Failure Analysis Engineer will have: Masters or PhD in electrochemistry or other related discipline.
3 or more years of direct industrial experience in lithium-ion battery industry for both laboratory and commercial-grade cells (such as 21700 and/or pouch cells).
Skills in various electrochemical techniques such as impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic cycling (GC), galvanostatic intermittent titration techniques (GITT or PITT), DQ/DV etc.
Experience of various material characterisation techniques such as SEM, EDS, XRD, GCMS, TGA, DSC etc.
Results driven with the ability to deliver operational plans in a highly demanding environment.
Experience managing key internal and external relationships.
