Catering experience is desirable along with a Level 2 Certificate in food safety though this is not essential, as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job We need you to lead our team, supervising our staff and supporting them to be the best they can be, providing clarity and direction on tasks, support to help them develop as well as ensuring they understand how crucial their role is to our patients and staff.Obviously it goes without saying that your effective communication skills will help you liaise with colleagues and other departments in order to ensure the smooth running of the department and you will be the role model and lead by example.

Job description Job responsibilities Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure an accurate exchange of information about catering tasks and service needs.Communicate with a range of service users either internal or external in person and over the telephone to understand, individual needs and provide information relating to the cateringPromote catering valuesCo-ordinate and supervise the production of simple snacks for service within the catering retailCo-ordinate the food service for both patient meal and retail services.Coordinate and supervise the cleaning either manually or with the use of mechanical equipment provided cleaning of areas, washing of crockery, cutlery and utensilsAssist with the co-ordination and management of staff in the capacity of a first lineAssist with the management of performance issues including attendance, conduct and Complying with the appropriate Trust policies in relation to these issuesAssist with the monitoring and management of sickness and absence, liaising with managers as In particular conduct return to work interviews following staff absence.Prepare staff rotas, allocating duties on a daily basis to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely mannerParticipate where required within the interview and selection process for Band 2 StaffActively encourage staff development following the Trusts policies and proceduresOperate cash registers in retail areas, demonstrating diligence at all timeSupervise Catering Assistants providing training asEnsure accuracy when allocating floats and cash counting at the start and end of theEnsure security of cash within departmental safe and whilst transporting around the Trust.Report any defective equipment, personal injuries or health and safetyEscalate to a manager if necessaryTaking the piece of equipment out of action if required.Proactively support the continued development of the catering serviceMaintain and develop own competence For more details, please see attached Job Description Person Specification Qualifications and Education Essential Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent experience Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene Basic Health and Safety qualification Desirable Level 3/Intermediate Certificate in Food Hygiene European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL Food service qualification Knowledge and Experience Essential Knowledge of Information Governance and Data Protection.
Experience in the Catering industry Experience in dealing with the public Previous supervisory experience.
Desirable Knowledge of therapeutic diets.
Experience within a Healthcare setting.
