The Category Manager is responsible for efficiently executing purchasing processes. This will involve driving strategic procurement initiatives, evaluating suppliers, managing relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, engaging in administrative activities, and supporting contract management processes.
On a daily basis you'll be responsible for, but not limited to: Contributing to Commodity sourcing strategies and ensuring alignment with procurement policy and procedures. Providing support to the Procurement Manager in developing a business listing of preferred suppliers. Supporting and maintaining a needs-based segmentation of the supply base. Addressing queries and issues relating to procurement processes and procedures. Establishing local service level agreements with end users, in conjunction with the procurement manager. Observing and enforcing purchasing ethics. Ensuring adherence to, and staff understanding of, purchasing policies and procedures to ensure standards are upheld. Suggesting and working with the procurement leadership team to establish process improvements, contributing to implementation and adherence on-site. Monitoring supplier performance and informing relevant stakeholders about this performance under the guidance of procurement leadership. Identifying stakeholder requirements and support the execution of Commodity plans. Identifying and actioning cost-reduction opportunities and procedures. Liaising closely with end-users to determine their requirements, providing input into the sourcing process. Ensuring end-users requirements are sufficiently detailed in an appropriate format. Negotiating local or regional contracts in conjunction with relevant procurement managers. Advising end users of suitable items of acceptable quality at the most cost-effective prices. Ensuring items are delivered on time and expedited where necessary. Following up on all outstanding orders and taking appropriate action. Invoking conditions of purchase against defaulting suppliers. Administering the tendering system as a member of the adjudication committee. Compiling and submitting monthly work reports to senior stakeholders. Team Working: able to collaborate and communicate across multi-functional matrix teams. Negotiation: Prepares for and applies a range of negotiating tactics to achieve win-win commercial and non-commercial outcomes. Supply base management: Segments the supply base to optimise the number and mix of suppliers to direct resource investments accordingly. Procurement due diligence: Ensures the organisation and its suppliers enter contracts aware of the relevant deliverables, timescales, costs, risks and other commitments. Working with data: Proficient in collecting, handling, analysing and presenting various types of data. What we offer: Our package is made up of basic salary plus a variable incentive.
