We require part time (minimum of 25 hours per week) or full time candidates to join our team to provide and maintain high standards of patient care as well as administrative tasks.

Main duties of the job Receive and support patients to access appropriate healthcare services in a professional, courteous, efficient and effective way.
Project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Provide general administrative assistance to the practice team to ensure that patients receive the high quality service that the practice aims for and that the practice runs in an efficient and effective way.Previous experience working in the NHS is desirable but not essential as comprehensive training will be provided.
Excellent interpersonal skills, good IT skills, excellent telephone manner and good communication skills are essential to the role.
The candidate will need to have a flexible working approach and have the ability to work with a wide range of professionals, people and place great importance on learning and development for every member of staff.

The practice needs anexperienced Medical Receptionist who can take over the administrative dutiesinvolved with coordinating patient and clinician schedules as well asbookkeeping, file management and office organisation.

GENERAL To work within the guidelines and policies of the Practice To ensure that statutory requirements are met at all timesand to implement practice policies, as directed by the Practice Manager, Head Receptionist or anyof the Partners To ensure that safe systems of work are practiced and thatthe agreed health and safety policies are adhered to.
To be aware of the responsibility of every employee tohave regard for safety for him or herself and others at work in the Health andSafety at Work Act To be conversant to with the practice fire regulations As well as the reception team there is a need to workclosely with GPs, nursing and office staff to ensure the smooth running of the practice, reporting anyproblems encountered to the appropriateperson Training requirements will be monitored by yearlyappraisal.

It is the individuals responsibility to remain up to datewith recent developments within the practice and the NHS.

The only reason for not attending will beannual, study or sick leave.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.
Reception duties Greet patients and Respond to all queries and requests forassistance from patients and other visitors Monitor flow of patients ensuring the appointment systemaccurately reflects the arrival of patients Ensure patients without appointments, but who need anurgent consultation, are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements tonew patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensuring procedures are completed correctly Advise patients of relevant charges for private services,accept payment and issue receipts keeping records of such payments up to date Enter requests for home visits in the diary stating reasonand including relevant information and where necessary refer to the duty doctor Action requestsfor ambulance transportation and enter details on the computer Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy Scan post when required and file & code letters in thepatient records Undertake referrals when needed2.
Repeat prescribing system Receive patients requests for prescriptions whether inwriting, fax or e-mail; in person; over the telephone or from the telephone message service Action requests for repeat prescriptions while maintainingthe Practices policy of generic prescribing and where appropriate 28 day prescribing.
Report any problems and ensure that follow up action istaken to resolve such matters3.
Appointment system Ensure total familiarity with all appointment systemsincluding regular and incidental variations Book appointments and recalls ensuring sufficientinformation is recorded to retrieve medical record Monitor effectiveness of the system and report anyproblems or variations5.
Telephone system Receive and make calls as required answering any queriesthat arise Divert calls and take messages as appropriate ensuringaccuracy 6.
Start and end of day procedures As directed by the Reception Manager.7.
