Care Coordinator/Medical Receptionist

Job summary Dr Smith & Partners are looking to recruit anenthusiastic and conscientious Receptionist with a sense of humour to join ourbusy team based across two sites.
Working between 20-25 hrs per week, shifts are a mix of mornings startingat 07:45 and afternoons finishing at 20:00 and possible full days.
Shifts will be allocated on a rota basis with a minimum of 4 weeks notice given.
In addition to this you will be required to work Saturdays on a rotabasis.
It is essential that thesuccessful candidate is able to be flexible in their approach to working hours.Duties will include dealing with patients both face to faceand over the telephone, and use of computers.Applicants should have excellent communication skills and beable to work in a busy environment whilst remaining calm and approachable.There may be a requirement to cover at short notice.Previous experience in General Practice is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job Facilitate patient pathways by following signposting protocol in a courteous, efficient andeffective way by telephone, in person or electronically.
Navigating, using resources wisely.
Being able to explain reasoningto the patients in a confident and reassuring wayProvide generalassistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image topatients and other visitors, in person or via the telephoneAnswering the telephone professionally,efficiently and conveying messages to record patient encounter notes on theclinical system to ensure accurate record keeping and audit trailsScanning and electronic filing of letters into recordsTo have a thorough knowledge of all Practice proceduresTo work in accordance to written protocolsMaintain adequate stock of referral formsEducate and inform patient about use ofservicesGenerating and promoting new ideas toenable workloads to become more effectiveRecognize signs of medical emergency andensure emergency response is provided.Dealing with patient general enquires andensuring this is completed in a timely manner and checking that correct adviceis given which is also up to date.Take results, following Practice procedures, recording informationaccurately About us Chapel Street Medical Centreis based in Spondon, Derby and we have a branch site Mayfield Medical Centrebased in Chaddesden, Derby.

12680We have 5 Partners, 5 salariedGP's, 1 Mental Health Practitioner and a nursing team of 5 who work on a rota basis.We have a team of 3secretaries, 6 administrative staff and a team of 12 reception staff who alsowork on a rota basis.
We are part of a Great Derby Primary Care Network.
Job description Job responsibilities The primary purpose of this role is to be the first point ofcontact for patients, providing a friendly, efficient and polite serviceDue to the nature of the business it is necessarythat the successful candidate is flexible with regards to shifts and providingcover at either Surgery should the need ariseProactivelycommunicate information between relevant patients, GPs and colleagues.Answeringour telephones promptly to reduce call waiting times for patients.
We know ourpatients have busy lives and want to speak to us as quickly as possibleTodemonstrate efficiency, knowledge and skill in navigating the call and ensuringthe patient needs are addressed in full, which will involve signposting to amore appropriate serviceSettinga positive professional example to both patients and colleagues and supportingyour colleagues in all aspects of the role, being mindful of each other andbeing aware of when your colleagues need further assistance particularly if onearea of reception is busy and other areas are notPrioritisetasks and remain calm in a busy environment, dealing with competing demandsfrom patients and doctors etc.
This means working as a team, communicating wellwith each other to avoid duplication in work and to keep tasks down to aminimum.
Recognising when it would be appropriate to fulfil the whole patientencounter at the time, rather than passing on work to a colleagueAdheringto and enforcing all surgery policies and procedures, keeping up to date withnew policies and changes to policies as required Person Specification Experience Essential Qualities required for the job are: Confidentiality, Accuracy, Speed, Hardworking, Courtesy, Flexibility, Ability to work as a team member, Sense of humour.
Desirable Experience of working in General Practice is desirable not but essential.
Qualifications Essential GCSE grade A to C in English & Maths
