Care Assistant

Details of the offer

Job DescriptionCare AssistantYou think you're giving a gift… but the biggest surprise?
It's what you get back. You step into this role thinking you're there to make someone's day.
And you are.But here's what they don't tell you: the feeling you take home is the real gift.Picture this:You visit Mrs. Thompson, who, at 87, still insists on offering you a biscuit with your tea, and pop the kettle on for a good chat.
You're not just helping with her daily routine—you're the person she looks forward to seeing all week.
That conversation?
It's more than just a chat over a cuppa and custard cream.
It's her lifeline.
Your hourly visits are the one thing she relies on to get through the week, the support she knows will always be there when the world feels a little too quiet. And then there's Mr. Harris.
You help him lace up his boots, take his hand, and guide him on his favourite winter walk along Kemble High Street.
You walk side by side, his dog trotting along, and it feels simple — just another part of your day.
But when he looks at you and smiles, "I couldn't do this without you," you feel the weight of those words.
What you thought was just a walk?
It's his independence.
It's his connection to a world that would be out of reach without you.And at the end of the day?You go home, wrap your hands around a hot chocolate, and that feeling stays with you.
It's not just ticking off a list—it's knowing you've actually made a difference in someone's day.
That's the kind of fulfilment that's hard to find anywhere else.
You'll find it with us, at Home Instead.Whether you've worked in care before or it's your first time, we provide all the training and support you need so you can feel confident and capable from day one.
