Job summary We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Cardiothoracic Wound Clinic Nurse to join our Cardiac Outpatient Department team.
This dual role not only focuses on wound care management for patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgeries but also involves working alongside the wider cardiac OPD team to support various clinics.
You will assist in ensuring the smooth operation of the department and step in to manage the department in the absence of the department manager.
you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgeries, with the focus on post operative wound management.
You will work closely with surgeons, patients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective wound healing and promote optimal recovery.
Main duties of the job Provide comprehensive wound care to patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgeries and other related procedures.
Perform detailed assessments of surgical wounds, ensuring early identification of potential complications, Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement individualised care Administer dressings, suture removal and other wound management techniques.
Educate patients and their families on proper wound care at home, including infection prevention and signs of complications.
Monitor patients progress and document wound healing.
Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients during their recovery process, Keep updated with the latest developments in cardiothoracic wound care techniques and products.
Registered Nurse Relevant experience in cardiothoracic surgery and wound care setting.
Strong clinical assessment skills, especially in wound evaluation and infection management.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Excellent communication skills Compassionate, detail orientated, and proactive in patient care.
