What's this role about?
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Originator to join our team.
The Originator will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and originating new carbon and BESS optimisation deals in accordance with company guidelines and objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record of success in origination or trading.
What will I be doing?
Key Responsibilities: Identify and develop new business opportunities by building relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders.
Build and lead a profit pillar around carbon and emissions trading, including: trading; risk management; contractual and commercial structure; customer targeting, marketing and sales approach.
Evaluate and contract new BESS and SaaS deals, ensuring they meet company standards and risk criteria.
Prepare and present detailed proposals and reports to senior management.
Manage the tender process for front-of-the-meter assets, ensuring timely and high quality responses.
Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
Collaborate with internal teams, including data science and forecasting, legal, compliance, trading, and operations, to ensure seamless transaction processing.
Maintain a robust pipeline of prospective deals and track progress using CRM and other tools.
Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to represent the company and expand business connections.
What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in origination, or a related role within the energy industry.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients and industry contacts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM software.
High level of self-motivation, integrity, and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
