HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new construction, renovation projects, connection schemes.
Responsibilities: Take part in cable system projects at every level, from initial design to commissioning and handover.
Compute cable characteristics such as voltage drop, short circuit analysis, and ampacity (current carrying capacity).
Create cable route designs with the terrain, environmental impact, and regulatory needs taken into account.
Choose the right cable types, taking into account installation techniques (underground, overhead, subsea), insulation kinds, and voltage rating.
Assuring adherence to project specifications and industry standards, create technical specifications for cable procurement.
Assist suppliers and contractors in making sure the right protocols are followed for handling, installing, and testing cables.
Observe and record cable testing processes to guarantee quality assurance and compliance with safety rules.
Work together with engineers from other fields to smoothly incorporate cable systems into energy infrastructure projects such as wind farms and substations.
Requirements: Experience designing Transmission and Distribution Systems for utility businesses using international standards, including concept, FEED, and detail design.
Capacity to coordinate across disciplines and collaborate well with leads to address any design-related concerns.
Utilising a wide variety of practical knowledge to design and produce cable installations, including pulling, termination, jointing arrangements, trench and trenchless section layouts, cable bonding and phasing, and cable routing layouts.
Practical familiarity with CYMCAP software and the ability to calculate cable sizes using international standards.
Able to work under a demanding workload that is subject to sudden changes.
Expertise with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Outlook MicroStation or AutoCAD proficiency.
