SCOPE The Buyer is responsible for all of Viking Pump Hygienic direct and indirect purchasing in line with the business objectives.
With responsibility for an expenditure of over £3M in direct materials, the Buyer will utilise strong negotiation and decision making skills and ensure timely delivery of materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ KEY RESULT AREAS Purchasing – Raise Purchase orders for supply of inventory parts and other services/ expensed items.
Manage MRP messages.
Source new parts, negotiate pricing.Expedite – Maintain "On Time Delivery", with regular supplier "check ins" and processing of Order Acknowledgements.
Ensure system dates are kept updated and any delays or concerns are escalated and communicated to the appropriate departments.Supplier Management – Develop partner relationships with our key suppliers to ensure healthy two way communication and feedback .MRP Materials Planning – In coordination with Production Planner, ensure JDE Branch Plant settings are maintained.
Action MRP planning messages – To purchase, expedite, Defer and ensure supplier Lead times and EOQ's are kept accurate.Cost Management – Develop a productivity funnel for cost savings - Direct/ Indirect.
Routinely assess supplier pricing to identify opportunities for cost down through increased batch savings, resourcing, value engineering and negotiation.Support the Finance Department with supplier invoice queries.
Maintain JDE price files.Outsourcing – Support Production planner as required for Outside Processing PO, expediting and booking transportation.Imports –Issue Import clearance instructions for oversea material purchases, ensuring timely despatch and accurate record keeping of COO, HTS codes, and unit costs.
Seek opportunities for Freight cost reduction by consolidation and negotiation.Analyse and provide feedback for identified procurement problems.
Implement corrective action or changes where necessary in order to minimise any detrimental effects on the business.DCN – Support Engineering with communication of drawing changes to suppliers.Maintain company KPI performance – The Buyer has significant influence and control over -Sales, OTD, stock turns, Past Dues, PPV, working capital, EOZ and PBITInventory – Work with Production Planning, Engineering, stores, shop floor supervisor and suppliers to optimise storage space and initiatives for Vendor stocking.
Investigate stock queries and support in EOZ Reviews: i.e, recommend EOZ reclassifications & disposalsQuality – Issue Drawings, Inspection plans and specifications and ensure that any questions or concession requests are appropriately assigned to Engineering, Quality dept or Supplier development.
Support in JDE transactions for return of stock or quarantine.Systems & Procedures - Continually appraise routine systems, purchasing initiatives and procedures to identify development opportunities.
