The Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) provides HMRC with an effective investigation arm to enforce the Department's compliance policies and deliver against the strategic responsibilities across direct, indirect tax, criminal finance, excise regimes and frontiers.
Organised Crime Operations work to counter the impact of organised attacks on the UK tax system by targeting the profit, assets and businesses used to facilitate crime, to reduce the market share and profitability of Organised Crime Groups (OCGs).
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to expand their existing skill set, to observe the tactical and strategic running of a busy FIS Organised Crime branch and to gain experience of delivering multiple work strands within tight and challenging deadlines.
Job description This is a new role, working directly to the Higher Officer (HO) Business Support to the G7 Operational Leader but providing full support to the criminal Senior Investigation Officers (SIOs) in the Dover OC branch.
You may also, at times, be expected to provide some support to the Operational Leader in the absence of the HO Business Support.
The job is varied and the key responsibilities wide ranging and often demanding.
You will be expected to have a close and productive working relationship with the SIO group and their case teams.
Key responsibilities are expected to include but are not restricted to: Active administration of branch training records.
Secretariat for team meetings; room bookings, compiling agendas, obtaining guest speakers, taking minutes and maintaining action points.
Secretariat for other internal and external meetings, i.e.
Border Force, Police & NCA.
Administration of SharePoint sites including assurances.
Editorial duties for quarterly newsletters.
Updating success registers.
HR support - Arranging performance and development meetings on behalf of SIO managers.
Support with logistics during prosecutions.
Office based note keeping & administrative support to case teams during live operations.
Crown Court trial support.
Administration and monitoring of regular returns to include Corporate Responsibilities and Controls, attendance away from HMRC estate, Gifts and Hospitality.
Collection of data to inform funding bids for training.
Monitoring and support to ongoing project work.
Providing ad-hoc support to the HO Business Support.
Person specification The successful applicant should: Possess strong organisational and time management skills and be able to work proactively and at pace.
Be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
Have the ability multitask and manage competing priorities, carrying out reactive tasks whilst also forward planning for regular deadlines.
Possess good written and oral communication skills.
Produce high quality work and show good attention to detail.
Essential Criteria: Be IT literate and confident using all Microsoft programmes and O365 tools including Excel.
Desirable Criteria: Previous experience working in a support or business support role.
A good understanding of the purpose and function of the HMRC's Fraud Investigation Service Other Information Depending on individual circumstances and the requirements of the role we may be able to make reasonable workplace adjustments such as flexible working, adjusting breaks and time to complete tasks, providing alternative office equipment, software etc.
