Job Title: Learning Support Assistant Location: Durham Contract Type: Long term Leader Education are recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a dynamic alternative provision setting.
This role involves working with Key Stage 3 and 4 students who have been identified by their mainstream schools as being at risk of permanent exclusion due to behavioural challenges.
Many of these pupils have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, so experience working with SEMH or vulnerable individuals would be highly beneficial.
The provision is strongly committed to creating a supportive environment where all pupils can achieve the best possible outcomes, regardless of their educational needs.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will: Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
Have experience of working in a transferable role or with SEMH individuals.
Lead activities with individuals or small groups to facilitate educational development.
Be confident in working alongside students, ensuring they are fully supported.
Provide a stimulating and well-structured learning environment suitable for pupils with SEMH.
Be flexible and resilient.
Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support.
Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities.
