Behaviour Support Officer Hours: 8:00 – 15:00 / 8:30 – 15:30 Pay: £100 – 110 p/day Contract: Temporary OR Permanent Location: Pontypridd Start: As soon as possible Job Description You will be required to support young people (11-16 yrs) with Behavioural, Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (BESD).
The young people you are supporting come from a range of socio-economic backgrounds and upbringings which make them vulnerable and cautious of new relationships.
As a behaviour support officer, it will be essential that you show understanding and empathy to their situations whilst remaining firm in ensuring correct school behaviour policies are followed.
For this, communication is imperative to building strong relationships.
This role requires someone resilient and can remain calm under pressure and in situations that can escalate in intensity; perfect for someone looking to work within alternative education provisions.
Alternative education provisions are in place to offer education in different ways to mainstream education for young people who struggle to conform to mainstream behaviour expectations.
For example, whilst still covering the core subjects, more vocational topics are covered to help prepare the young learners for life after education.

Requirements As you will be supporting vulnerable young people, all applicants must have an enhanced DBS that is registered on the update service – guidance on gaining this can be provided for those who currently do not hold this.

Successful candidates will require the following: Enhanced DBS & update service registration Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration Level 2 minimum safeguarding training (free training provided by Teaching Personnel) Minimum of 2 references which cover a 24 month period (or equivalent) Onboarding Process - Apply by attaching a CV for consideration - Shortlisting will take place 48 hours of the application being submitted - A tele call will be provided to talk through the role in more detail to establish if you and Teaching Personnel wish to proceed - After successful call, invite to interview in person or via Teams.
