Join our team as a Behaviour Support Assistant to provide guidance and interventions for students who need help with behaviour management.
You will work closely with teaching staff to develop strategies that promote positive behaviours and a respectful school culture.
Experience in behaviour support or youth work is advantageous.
Responsibilities of the Behaviour Support Assistant: Support students with behavioural challenges, providing one-on-one or small group interventions as needed.
Work collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement personalised behaviour management plans for students.
Use positive reinforcement strategies to encourage desirable behaviours and de-escalate situations where necessary.
Monitor and track student progress, providing regular updates to teaching staff and senior leadership.
Foster a calm, supportive, and structured environment to help students feel safe and supported.
Promote social and emotional development through targeted interventions and activities.
Support students in understanding and managing their emotions, providing guidance on conflict resolution and appropriate behaviour.
Work closely with the pastoral care team to ensure a holistic approach to behaviour management and student well-being.
Maintain accurate records of behavioural incidents, interventions, and outcomes, following school protocols.
Encourage a positive school culture by reinforcing respect, responsibility, and kindness among students.
Requirements of the Behaviour Support Assistant: Previous experience in behaviour support, youth work, or a similar role working with children or young people.
Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies for supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Ability to build rapport with students and staff, showing empathy and patience in challenging situations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to supporting students' personal and academic development.
A relevant qualification in education, youth work, or behaviour management (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in childcare, youth work qualification, or equivalent) is desirable.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
