We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Braintree.
Starting in September, this full-time position offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who require additional behavioural and emotional support.
You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other support assistants to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with behavioural and emotional challenges.
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
Support classroom teachers in managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive learning atmosphere.
Foster strong relationships with students to build trust and encourage positive behaviour.
Monitor and report on student progress, including any changes in behaviour or engagement.
Work collaboratively with other staff members to develop and implement strategies to support students' behavioural and emotional needs.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and effectiveness in this role.
Requirements: Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school setting.
A good understanding of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Flexibility and the ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and the wider school environment.
An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable: Qualifications related to education, childcare, or special educational needs.
Experience working with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour interventions.
