A local school in Bovington is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join the dynamic team to support students' social and emotional development.
About the role: As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in promoting positive behaviour and fostering a supportive learning environment for students.
This includes supporting with their education, but also their holistic development, such as students' communication, social skills, and independence.
Responsibilities of the Behaviour Support Assistant: Assist in the implementation of behaviour support plans (BSPs) developed by teachers and SENCO, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in managing challenging behaviours.
Offer one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them to understand and manage their emotions and behaviours in various settings.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting and reinforcing positive behaviour and social skills among students.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals to develop and review behaviour intervention strategies tailored to individual student needs.
Monitor student behaviour and progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians, as necessary.
Assist teachers in maintaining a productive learning environment by implementing proactive strategies and providing support during lessons.
Requirements of the Behaviour Support Assistant: Have experience working with young people in a supportive role, preferably in an education or mental health setting.
Have a caring and patient attitude, along with strong communication skills.
Have profound knowledge and understanding of mental health issues and their impact on learning.
Possess a commitment to promoting well-being and positive behaviour.
Can work both as part of a team and independently.
