Job summary The purpose of this role is to undertake radiotherapy interventions to the highest professional and technical standards, working with Medical, Radiography, Physics and Administrative colleagues.
Main duties of the job As a senior radiographer you will be under the supervision of the relevant Operational Manager.
You will undertake all elements of the Pre-treatment Pathway including scanning and virtual simulation and be expected to undertake duties in the Mould Room to a high standard of complexity.
You will undertake all aspects of delivering Radiotherapy using complex techniques and equipment.
In addition, you will be expected to perform the relevant data preparation for treating patients and have exposure to all aspects of clinically relevant administration.
The post holder will be required to work in all areas of the department and have a flexible approach to rota changes.
As a key element of the role, the post holder will provide information, education, practical and emotional support to patients and carers during their radiotherapy episode.
The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and has a satellite service based at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
This post is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital but will include working at both sites.

Surface guided radiotherapy system installation will further improve the accuracy of treatment and present the opportunity for tattoo-less radiotherapy.
Our patients benefit from access to two ETHOS units, one Halcyon and four TrueBeams across our two radiotherapy centres.
We have three planning CT scanners, an exceptional Brachytherapy service which provides HDR, LDR and Papillon kV contact treatment; as well as an Xstrahl superficial machine.
Key to this role will be undertaking all aspects of delivering External Beam Radiotherapy, supporting as required with elements of Pre Treatment and data preparation.
You will also provide information, education, practical and emotional support to patients and their carers during their radiotherapy.
Our main site is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford and our satellite centre at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
The post could be based at either of our sites and may require travel between sites to ensure we are covering a safe clinical service.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development HCPC Registration BSc Radiotherapy or DCR (T) Desirable Evidence of relevant post qualification training and education Experience Essential Experience commensurate with a Band 6 post in Therapy Radiography Experience of working in a radiotherapy department on a wide range of radiotherapy equipment.
Use of computerised department record and verify systems Involvement in managing resources Experience of collaborating with other staff-groups Desirable Experience commensurate with a Band 6 post in complex treatment techniques and processes.
