Job summary The post holder is responsible for the implementation and smooth running of clinical sessions within the maxillo facial department and outlying services related to the department, such as work in a theatre/ minor oral surgery setting.
The post holder: Will assist dental practitioner with dental treatment Will provide pre- and post- operative dental hygiene advice to patients having orthodontic and maxillofacial procedures Will carry out dental radiography and Cone Beam CT scanning will prepare materials, instruments, equipment for specialist dental practitioner Will be expected to work as a member of the outpatient team, bringing dental expertise and guidance to our service.
Will be expected to facilitate training and provide day to day and clinical supervision to students, less experienced staff and other members of the team.
Will at all times, adhere to the Guidance of Standards recommended by the GDC, whilst incorporating the Trust core values within their daily working practice.
Responsible in prep the clinic for the smooth running of the clinics Should follow IPC guidelines as per the trust while doing any procedure .
Main duties of the job Prepare and maintain the clinical environment, prep patient notes including the equipment : Prepare and set up clinics, including trays for orthodontic and minor oral/maxilla facial surgery.
Care and maintenance of equipment and instruments including; decontamination, reporting and sending equipment for repair.
Ensure adequate stock levels of all supplies and order when stock levels are low.
Carry out infection prevention and control procedures to prevent physical, chemical and microbiological contamination in the surgery or laboratory Prepare, mix and handle dental materials P Provide chair /trolley side assistance during operative procedures, eg suction, retraction of soft tissues.
Prepare equipment, materials and patients for dental radiography (subject to holding relevant qualification).
Admit patients on correct database for dental radiographs/CT scans: as per trust guidelines.
Perform correct requested radiograph/CT scan (subject to holding relevant qualification).
Process dental radiographs/ Cone Beam CTs : as per trust guidelines Participate in quality assurance audits for radiography service in line with IRMER and radiology QA Ensure IRMER is updated every 5 years as per IRMER guidelines About us Northampton General Hospital is one of the largest employers in the area and we are on an exciting journey.
