We are currently recruiting to the Temporary Staffing Service and our existing students can now join the bank as a HCA internally.
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust has an established Temporary Staffing Service which helps to ensure that we meet the needs of our service users.
This vacancy is only open to current Mental Health or Learning Disability Student Nurses who are currently on/have recently been on placement within our services.
Student nurses must be on placement within the Trust or have recently completed a placement within the Trust as we will need to obtain a satisfactory reference from your TEWV practice placement mentor(s).
Please ensure that the placement is listed on your application form and your TEWV placement mentor is on the application as one of your referees (we need references to cover the past 3 years of employment/education/activity).
Please also make sure that you list the month and year of your student nurse cohort, expected year of completion of your nursing qualification and when your training was last updated.
Failure to do this may result in your application being rejected.
Main duties of the job Supporting our Nursing teams within our inpatient services, to help promote recovery for our service users, you will have excellent communication skills and will work directly with patients, as part of a wider MDT and will need to demonstrate empathy, compassion, understanding and patience, whilst demonstrating that you can work flexibly as and when the need arises.

You will be responsible for supporting nursing staff in meeting the needs of services users, working alongside our established workforce delivering all aspects of care to promote choice and client independence.
Successful applicants will be required to complete a mandatory training programme within the first 8 weeks of commencement which will provide all recruits with the necessary skills to work effectively and safely within our unique services.
This is approximately 8 days of training for HCAs, this includes 5 consecutive days of face to face training in Positive and Safe Care.
It is therefore essential that applicants ensure that they can commit to this prior to applying.
Bank workers are not regular employees and have no entitlement to guaranteed or continuous employment.
Please be aware that hours worked on the bank are not transferable to placement hours.
You will also not be able to undertake bank work in the same location as your current placement.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Key skills in literacy (level 1) and numeracy (level 1) Desirable NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care Experience Desirable Previous experience of working with people with mental/social health needs.
