Job summary The Cancer Services team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to recruit a substantive full time Clinical Nurse Specialist to join its Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team.We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to support the expansion of our service which is to include a new one stop diagnostic clinic for patients with suspected prostate cancer.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the development and growth of the service and to assist in the provision of a new model of care.
Main duties of the job You will be a core member of the Urology Cancer MDT and provide high quality holistic care, treatment, education, health promotion and well-being to both in patients and out-patients with urological cancer, whilst supporting their families and carers.
You will also be an expert resource to other health care professionals offering advice and guidance on the management of urology cancer and the patient pathway.You will apply a high level of autonomy and demonstrate strong leadership qualities.
You should also possess advanced communication skills and be able to communicate complex and sensitive information.You will be well supported and a highly valued member of the team.

Person Specification Education and qualifications Essential First level RGN registration Teaching qualification eg ENB 998 or extensive experience Educated to Degree level.
Relevant post registration qualifications in oncology / haematology/ palliative care.
Evidence of recent professional development Desirable Educated or working towards Masters level.
Clinical Examination Module at Level 6/7 or willingness to work towards.
Psychological support training at level 2 Post.
Registration Experience Advanced communication Knowledge Essential Working in the health care sector with staff management experience.
Up-to-date knowledge of the cancer, palliative care and EOL agenda Significant post registration experience in oncology and caring for patients with cancer Understanding of the cancer patient and carer issues and their role in service improvement.
Experience of working across a variety of care settings Evidence of innovation/change management.
Understanding of the Key worker role.
Knowledge and understanding of oncological emergencies.
