Job summary The recruitment team at the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB), working in partnership with the Central and South Genomics Medicine Service Alliance (CAS GMSA), and Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a customer focussed, friendly and enthusiastic individual, as part of joint role which builds on the collaboration between GMSA and HIWM.
Main duties of the job Based in UHB but working with the CAS GMSA and HIWM teams, you will be part of a team that operates across Wessex, Oxford and Thames Valley, and the West Midlands.
The CAS GMSA is one of seven Alliances launched in England in January 2021.
The Alliances have been created by NHS England to embed genomics into routine care across the country, ensuring equity of access and providing faster diagnoses and more effective, personalised treatment for patients.
The Alliances, as part of the NHS Genomic Medicine Service, will help the NHS become the first health service in the world to bring genomic testing and personalised medicine into routine care, with a key focus on improving our understanding of the underlying causes of illness to guide specific treatment options for each patient.
HIWM is one of 15 Health Innovation Networks (HINs) across England established by NHS England to connect health and social care, academic organisations, local authorities, third sector, industry and citizens to spread innovation at pace and scale.The Research and Innovation Coordinator is a key role delivering the strategic aims of the Central and South Genomic Medicine Service Alliance and Health Innovation West Midlands.This post is a new joint role that will have responsibility for supporting the Genomics Innovation Director and CAS GMSA Research Directors in the development and implementation of research and innovation activities involving and facilitated by the GMSA and HIWM.
