Job summary The Vascular Laboratory in West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to recruit an experienced Clinical Vascular Scientist to join our friendly and dynamic team.We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to contribute and improve our patient-centered service.Ideally, the post holder will have vascular scanning clinical experience post SVT accreditation/equivalent qualifications.The Vascular Laboratory provides a full range of non-invasive ultrasound vascular examinations.
We carry out carotid, peripheral arterial and venous assessments including DVT scans in addition to EVAR and lower limb extremity revascularisation duplex surveillance scans.The Vascular Lab is based in Watford General Hospital and consists at present of two scanning rooms equipped with new Philips EPIQ systems.There are four full time and part-time Vascular Scientists, two Trainee Vascular Scientists together with administrative support staff.
We work alongside four Vascular Surgeons, Vascular Interventional Radiologists, and a specialist Vascular Nurse.This role is Monday to Friday.
Some weekend and bank holidays working will be required.This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop and utilise your vascular ultrasound skills and actively participate in the running of the department.All the team members are encouraged to be involved in non-patient care activities like audits, research projects, MDT meetings or observations in vascular clinics, in theatre during vascular surgery or in ultrasound scanning in radiology ( MSK list).If you are interested or would like to know more, please don't hesitate to phone or arrange an informal visit to the department.

Job description Job responsibilities Be responsible for scanning patients and producing independent reports of these scans in line with departmental guidelines.
To plan and prioritise ones own workload and that of the department to ensure the efficient flow of work, keeping waiting times to a minimum and maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
To communicate with patients, their relatives, and others about the purpose of the examinations and the scan results (in line with departmental guidelines).
Take an active role in teaching and practical training of student.
Participate in the management of the Vascular Lab department and in the audit or clinical governance programs.
Person Specification Education and qualifications Essential Good Degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
MSc in Vascular Ultrasound from CASE accredited University training programme and/or Society of Vascular Technology (SVT) accreditation Member of Society of Vascular Technology (SVT) Desirable Registered with HCPC STP Train the Trainer Course.
Knowledge Essential General knowledge of duplex ultrasound scanning, vascular pathology and anatomy Policies - H&S.
Experience Essential Previous NHS experience Proven experience in vascular ultrasound scanning post qualification/accreditation Desirable Vascular scanning experience Research and audit experience Training and mentoring experience
