Job Overview The CAMHS Learning Disability Team is heralded as a 'Beacon award winning service', recognised nationally for its forward thinking and innovative approach.
The focus of the team is the assessment and treatment of children and young people with a moderate to profound Intellectual disability, presenting with associated mental health difficulties, behaviours of concern and neurodevelopmental conditions.
The successful candidates will be able to enhance their learning and development within Positive Behaviour Support, Intensive Interaction, augmentative communication and through access to the multidisciplinary team, including a range of specialist nursing staff in the field of ASD, ADHD, sleep and prescribing.
Candidates will have experience in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities who display behaviours of concern.
The ability to work a shift pattern of early and late shifts, (long days) including weekends and bank holidays, is essential in order to meet the needs of the patients in a timely manner.
The service covers the whole of Leicester city, Leicestershire and Rutland and so own transport or a suitable alternative is essential.
Use of public transport is NOT appropriate for this role.

For further information please contact David Harrison, CAMHS LDT Clinical / Operational Lead or Teresa Norris Senior Matron / Team Leader on 0116 2255633 Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities) The successful candidate will be involved in supporting young people who present with complex needs and present with a variety of behaviours of concern.
You will be working with the young people and their families and, through assessment, work towards improving their quality of life.
You will complete assessments to develop plans and strategies to help meet the needs of the young people and build on their communication skills to reduce the likelihood of them engaging in behaviours of concern.
We use person centred planning; functional assessments, quality of life measures and skills teaching to co-produce Positive Behaviour Support Plans with patients, families and carers.
The ability to build rapport and adapt yourself to best support the individual families is key in these roles You will work with a variety of young people and their families to help provide home intervention which may involve skills teaching and modelling behaviour strategies within the family home.
You will be involved in coordinating low-medium level interventions which can include intensive interaction, supporting communication, implementing behaviour strategies as well as supporting senior nurses in completing high level assessment and interventions with young people who are at risk of placement breakdown and hospital admission as a result of their behavioural or mental health presentation.
