Main duties of the job Accurately prepare and dispense a wide range of aseptically prepared medicines to wards, outpatients and the cancer day unit.
Products include cytotoxic chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and aseptic products.
Manual dexterity in order to draw up accurate volumes using syringes and needles, fill elastomeric pumps and other infusion devices, connect giving sets and use other equipment such as minispikes, butterfly needles and transfer devices.
Prepare cytotoxics, monoclonal antibodies and other aseptic products on a day to day basis in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Ensure that handling and storage procedures are strictly followed for cytotoxic/aseptic medicines and that any spillages are cleared in accordance with departmental procedures.
Assist in the safe disposal of waste - used vials, needles, syringes contaminated with cytotoxics or radioactivity in accordance with departmental procedures.

Person Specification Experience Essential Aseptic dispensing experience.
Previous/current hospital experience is essential.
Qualifications Essential NVQ Level 2 for Pharmaceutical Sciences (or in training to gain the qualification).
