Job summary A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Speech & Language Therapy service at UHD.
The team are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for working within an acute setting.
Within this role, clinical work will be combined with an education and teaching component as part of our workforce development plans and growth of the Speech & Language Therapy service.
Base location: Bournemouth Hospital.
Cross site working is an expectedpart of the role.
Interview Date: TBC Main duties of the job Working with the other clinical specialists in acute and stroke, the post holderwill provide leadership and clinical expertise to the Speech & Language Therapy team and wider MDT.
This role will involve assessing and managing patients with complex dysphagia and/or communication impairments across the acute wards; including acute medicine, care of the elderly, respiratory, cardiac, stroke,neurotherapy and critical care.
The successful applicant will have experience of teaching and supervision and be required to focus on providing specialist education to other members of theSpeech & Language Therapy team regarding the management of tracheostomy and the development of skills in FEES.
This will involve supporting a robust competency-based framework and the scoping/extension of the use of FEES across UHD.
The post holder will work with our experienced ENT SLT, providing an opportunity for the maintenance of FEES competency and on-site peer supervision.
