About the Role: As an Autism Support Worker , you'll work closely with students on the autism spectrum, offering specialised assistance that enhances their learning experience and helps them feel engaged and understood.
Your support will be key in creating a positive, structured environment tailored to each student's unique needs.
Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one assistance to students with autism, helping them navigate daily tasks and social interactions in a supportive environment.
Implement positive behaviour management techniques to promote constructive interactions, patience, and resilience.
Assist students in developing essential social skills through structured activities and guided interactions, encouraging peer engagement and participation.
Modify learning resources and classroom activities to meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring accessibility and understanding.
Work closely with teachers, support staff, and therapists to align on effective strategies for each student, contributing to a consistent, supportive learning experience.
Monitor students' progress, documenting milestones and areas for growth to support ongoing learning and development.
Encourage students to build independence in both learning and personal care, fostering confidence and self-reliance over time.
Requirements: Experience in SEN support , specifically with children on the autism spectrum , is highly preferred.
A compassionate, understanding approach, with strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also managing individual responsibilities.
Relevant qualifications in SEN, psychology, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
To work with GSL Education, you will need: Have the right to work in the UK.
Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
Have a DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
