Job summary We are seeking to appoint qualified Audiologists to join our busy and friendly team in a full-time, fixed term post ( hours per week for 6 months) You will need to be a well-motivated, enthusiastic qualified Audiologist.

Main duties will be in the rehabilitation of adults with hearing difficulties, on both complex and routine pathways.
You must have excellent communication skills and have a desire to find creative and effective solutions for patients with a variety of hearing problems.
You will be a competent practitioner and able to work without supervision.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential BSc in Audiology or equivalent BAAT I and II or equivalent.
If not yet eligible for registration, must be working towards this Desirable RCCP registered Experience Desirable Previous experience as a qualified audiologist.
Knowledge Essential Able to work independently following departmental and national procedures without direct supervision maintaining accountability for own professional actions.
Provide range of clinical audiology services without direct supervision: Hearing assessment in adults and children (age 4 and above) Use of diagnostic tests (eg for the assessment of middle ear function) Hearing rehabilitation in adults Repair clinics requiring broad knowledge of a large range of hearing aids Understands anatomy and physiology of hearing and able to identify patients requiring further specialist intervention.
Able to determine appropriate rehabilitative interventions from a range of options.
Desirable Needs an appreciation of budgetary constraints in selection of hearing aids and take responsibility for hearing aid stocks.
Understands the importance of research and development and is able to contribute to research and audit within the department.
Skills Essential To be able to communicate effectively: With all patients, particularly those with significant hearing difficulties and to explain complex information about hearing loss and management options.
oWith other professionals and staff within Clinic 10(ENT) and Audiology oWith other organisations (volunteers, social services, GPs etc) Able to deliver short talks to other members of the team in informal training meetings.
Able to plan and prioritise own administrative workload.
Able to exercise own initiative when dealing with issues within own area of competence.
Good basic key-board skills.
Good fine motor skills for aural impression taking, ear mould modification and real ear measurement tests.
Able to safely and appropriately use delicate audiological equipment Able to safely move patients in wheel chairs.
Understanding of hazards posed by and precautions needed with: Infected clinical waste, sharp tools used in earmould repairs and electrical hazards.
Able to deal sensitively with patients with distressing medical conditions or those who are emotionally struggling with the implications of their hearing loss.
Able to maintain concentration on implementation and interpretation of tests for prolonged periods during busy clinics.
Able to use judgement in planning most appropriate rehabilitation strategy for adults with hearing loss.
Desirable Able to contribute to development of the Audiology service.
