About us The National Science and Media Museum is undergoing a radical transformation ready to inspire millions of visitors to Bradford City of Culture in 2025.
Huge changes will be delivered through a £6 million capital project called 'Sound and Vision', including two new galleries, a new passenger lift and improvements to the main entrance.
The new Sound and Vision galleries, accompanied by a programme of activities, will showcase key objects and stories from our world-class collections of photography, film, television, animation, videogames and sound technologies.
We are now recruiting for an Audience Researcher (Sound and Vision) to join the Audience Research and Advocacy team at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford on a fixed-term contract (until December 2025), working 35 hours per week.
About the role As an Audience Researcher (Sound and Vision) you will conduct audience research to support the development of the Sound and Vision galleries, learning resources, programmes, events and activities.
Using evidence-based findings, you will make recommendations and provide advice for relevant teams at the National Science and Media Museum, and across the Science Museum Group, about the needs, wants and expectations of the project's target audiences.
You will be working with colleagues across the Museum to engage people across Bradford with the development of Sound and Vision, feeding back evidence-based findings from your research and testing to internal teams and external contractors.
You will be an advocate for audiences needs, wants and expectations to key stakeholders including the Sound and Vision project team and external contractors to support the development of the galleries.
About you Joining us you will be an effective communicator, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with members of the public.
You will have an understanding of a range of audiences and their potential access requirements.
Crucially, you will understand qualitative research methods and be able to work well as part of a team, with the ability to influence colleagues' ways of thinking.
You will be a good problem solver, able to work on several projects simultaneously to enable you to meet to tight deadlines.
