And that's the kind of work we want to be part of.An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Associate Principal Scientist with extensive and proven experience in the use of Mass Spectrometry (LC MS/MS) for protein characterisation to join our outstanding team at Lonza.
The role is based in Slough (UK) and is pivotal to our ongoing success and growth.
As an Associate Principal Scientist you will provide oversight and execute analytical studies by developing methodology and interpreting complex datasets.
You will be expected to work on complex customer and in-house projects to deliver innovative solutions to technical challenges following all safety and quality procedures.You will collaborate with peers across teams to ensure meticulous execution of projects and proactively identify and implement technical and operational improvements.
This role offers an outstanding chance to input into significant scientific advancements.Key responsibilities:To lead major or complex work/projects simultaneously while ensuring scientific objective and timelines are met by improving efficiency of current methodology and developing new solutionsTo work independently and be able to identify and implement innovative LC MS/MS solutions for characterization of biotherapeutic proteinsProvide support and mentoring to junior colleagues with planning, execution, troubleshooting of project stages and encourage development of MS users and system ownersCommunicate with external customers to demonstrate Lonza's scientific credibility and grow relationshipsLead operational improvements and communicate project outcomes to relevant stakeholdersInput into department technology strategy based on industry trends and support the Characterisation team in maintaining offerings in line with industry and regulatory expectationsExecution of assigned assays with a focus on safety, quality, timeliness and accuracy adhering to regulatory requirements, where appropriateComplete and peer review laboratory documentationPerforming technical review of assays to support reference standard and biochemical comparability studies ensuring results reported are scientifically sound and generated in line with current regulatory guidance and expectationsMaintenance of analytical equipment, technologies and/or systems required to support characterisation stagesDeliver practical training and actively participate in scientific discussionsKey requirements:Extensive and proven experience in developing and troubleshooting analytical methodology for protein analysis with key focus on Mass SpectrometryFamiliarity with a range of mass spectrometry platforms such as Quadrupole Orbitrap MS, Tribrid Orbitrap MS or Q ToF MSProven record of leading method development projects for protein analysis including experimental design, execution and interpretation of complex datasetsExperience with a range of analytical methods for protein characterisation such as liquid chromatography (e.g RP, SEC, HILIC), capillary electrophoresis and LC MS/MSTheoretical knowledge of protein chemistry and protein structure (primary and higher order structure)Capability to critically analyse data, interpret results and communicate outcomes to external customers and internal stake holdersProven track record of being able to develop the skills of junior colleagues, particularly with respect to providing guidance and training in the use of LC-MS/MS techniquesExcellent communication skills for customer interactions and trainingOutstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and strategicallyJoin Lonza AG and be part of a team where your contributions will resolve future of life sciences and make a genuine impact on the world.Every day, Lonza's products and services have a positive impact on millions of people.
