Job overview This is an excellent opportunity to join the Oxford Centre for Histopathology Research (OCHRe) team in the John Radcliffe Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person, with a background in research administration, some experience in a project management/coordination type role, and some experience with handling samples in a laboratory setting, to join the OCHRe team for a period currently funded to end of March , with the expectation that funding will be renewed for another -month cycle, to work as an Associate Practitioner (Clinical Trials) in collaboration with the OUH department of Cellular Pathology.The primary role is to deal with requests involving services or samples from the Cellular Pathology department, communicating with clinical trial administrators, research nurses and pathologists, as well as technical staff in the department to ensure the right samples are prepared, and occasionally to process study-specific samples.
The post holder will need to apply good practical understanding and knowledge of ICH GCP framework and HTA guidelines, training will be provided if required.
They will require excellent interpersonal skills, IT skills (particularly relational databases and Excel) and organisational skills, as well as having the confidence to work independently when required, again training will be provided.
Main duties of the job This is an essential role that ensures clinical trials aiming to influence medical research are supported whilst complying with national and local governance requirements and will involve a mixture of: Project management Organisation of applications, via email, database records and paper filesSeeking approval from appropriate personnel and ensuring appropriate consent is in place from information provided with each request, checking for use of tissue before release, recording evidence of approvals / consent on multiple databases.Work with team members to ensure completion of projects in a reasonable time frame.Ensuring activities are recorded at all stages in the pathway to monitor progress and for costings purposes Manual laboratory procedures Centrifugation ( processing blood samples)Running of digital slide scanner and associated software.Slide labelling General laboratory support duties Pulling slides and blocks for reviewRecalling cases from the off-site archive Contribution to maintenance of biobank storage facilities Working for our organisation Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country.
