This is a trust wide post and involves working with colleagues at all hospital sites (Good Hope, Heartlands, Solihull and Queen Elizabeth Hospital). We welcome applications from GPs, public health professionals and consultants with an interest in public health. You will join a strong and motivated senior leadership team led by the Chief Medical Officer.
Main duties of the jobProfessional leadership to medical and dental staff fostering a culture which values continuing professional development and excellence in the delivery of patient care.Secure effective engagement with clinicians at all levels and encourage cross professional collaboration to deliver service improvement.Advocate for and role model the use of quality improvement methodologies to improve health, levelling up to reduce health inequalities.Lead on reducing health inequalities through various workstreams.With colleagues and key stakeholders, develop ideas and innovation to address health inequalities.Provide strong individual and professional leadership through a compassionate, and problem-solving approach.Work as part of a collaborative, cohesive team taking appropriate lead responsibility for Health Inequalities.Attend, contribute and Chair (where appropriate) meetings, representing Health Inequalities workstreams and the CMO office.Support high quality care and professional standards.Support the CMO Office in implementing relevant strategy that is responsive, innovative, viable and sustainable and that can be effectively monitored to evidence quality improvement and patient safety.Encourage the achievement of a culture that supports continuous service development and improvement, innovation, and excellence, in the services across the CMO office and the Trust.About usWe are recognised as one of the leading NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK. Job responsibilitiesThe post holder is responsible for promoting the vision and values of University Hospitals Birmingham, leading by example, and ensuring that they demonstrate those values in their leadership behaviours and how we support our teams and deliver our services. Work alongside the clinical leadership teams at UHB. At the outset, the high-level responsibilities will involve, but not be restricted to:

Person SpecificationQualificationsFull registration with GMC (or equivalent) with a license to practice.Evidence of CPD, including leadership development.ExperienceKnowledge of health inequalities requirements and application to improve equity, access and outcomes.Significant experience of operating at Consultant / GP / Public Health professional level.Experience in a senior clinical leadership role.Experience of successfully leading clinical teams and/or complex projects within the NHS or similar complex organisations.Significant experience of patient safety and clinical governance processes and systems.Highly developed knowledge and understanding of health inequalities work streams.Additional CriteriaOutstanding interpersonal and communications skills.Proven track record in leading and motivating others; gaining confidence of colleagues through effective style and approach.Able to work across organisational boundaries and collaborate effectively.Confident dealing with patients, families, media and other external parties.Able to lead and/or contribute to policy development.Strong prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing demands.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
