Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Residential Developer Berkshire Our client, a leading housebuilder, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team.
The successful candidate will support the commercial team in managing the cost control and financial aspects of residential housing developments, primarily focused on traditional build projects.

Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimating and Budgeting: Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for residential projects, ensuring accurate financial planning from project inception to completion.
Valuations: Support the preparation and submission of interim valuations and assist in final account negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.
Tendering and Procurement: Help with the preparation of tender documents, analysis of bids, and procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, and materials in line with project budgets.
Variation Management: Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recording variations to contracts, ensuring any changes are costed and agreed upon with all relevant parties.
Financial Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and budget reviews, keeping senior team members informed of project financial performance.
Subcontractor Payments: Support the processing of payments to subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and agreed schedules.
Contract Administration: Assist in the day-to-day administration of construction contracts, ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract.
Collaboration: Work closely with senior quantity surveyors, project managers, and site teams to ensure smooth financial and commercial management of projects.
Qualifications and Experience: Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or a related role within the construction or residential housing sector is preferred.
Good understanding of UK construction contracts and cost management practices.
Strong numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and developing within the role.
