The Role As a member of the Property and Support Services Department the post holder is responsible for the operational management of the Department within a designated area of NHSL.
As a member of the management team the post holder will provide operational leadership, including staff management and have overall responsibility for ensuring that Engineering, Building and Grounds maintenance is carried out to appropriate standards and specifications.
The post holder has responsibility for the delegated backlog maintenance schemes and has responsibility for the design; contract specifications and documentation management of construction and management of contractors on site and contributes to the effective delivery of the capital programme.
The post holder will ensure NHSL estate and property related assets are managed effectively in line with the current NHS Scotland and statutory guidance including deriving policies and associated procedures from first principles.

What we'll need you to bring The post holder requires being professionally qualified and hold membership of an appropriate professional body, which normally requires a degree or equivalent in an appropriate Engineering / Building related subject.
A minimum of 5 years previous experience in an operational management post in healthcare or related commercial environment is required, plus a qualification in operational management, (if not taken as part of the degree) is required to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of the post.
Specialised certificated training is required for each statutory duty held e.g.
3 yearly refresher & 1 yearly update together with CPR.
These duties include HV and LV Electrical, Legionella, Sterilisers, Lifts, Mains Gas, Ventilation Systems etc.
and may require national registration of the nominee.
The post holder shall be required to demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of Statutory Standards & the management of Health & Safety.
Experience of contract management & auditing Experience of contract specification, procurement and evaluation of tenders / proposals Car owner/driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence It would be great if you also have Corporate member of an appropriate professional body, related to Building Services engineering and or estates management.
CPD log and certification demonstration the upgrade and maintenance of current skills and abilities.
Management experience and knowledge of building services engineering gained in a complex building maintenance environment.
Contract type Permanent Full time 37 hours Location and Working Pattern This role will be based in PSSD Maintenance within University Hospital Monklands The working pattern for this role will be confirmed by the hiring manager.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.
Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.
If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly.
NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
