In this role you'll receive: Starting salary of £15,000 Working hours are 9:00AM-5:00PM, Monday to Thursday and 9:00AM-1:00PM on a Friday 20 Days Annual Leave, plus bank holidays (3 days to be used for Christmas shutdown) Regular training and CPD opportunities Key Responsibilities The main purpose of the Asbestos Technician Apprentice (Level 3) is to undertake analysis of materials for the identification of asbestos fibres.
Daily tasks will include:  Analysing bulk materials for asbestos content Managing workload throughout the working day Completing internal and external quality control Filling in the workbook daily of samples that have been entered and sent out Following technical procedures Managing laboratory workload; including booking samples into the inhouse system Upholding good communication with colleagues  Support the running of the office in times of absence alongside your usual role  Effectively manage your day to day workload and take ownership for your own role  This opportunity is a great way to begin your journey with Salvum by gaining real-life work experience while you study for a nationally recognised qualification.
We'll support you at every stage throughout your apprenticeship, providing you with the opportunity to learn new skills and get stuck in with some exciting projects across the UK.
Just know that your safety is paramount, and our technicians are fully trained and equipped to ensure that asbestos analysis is done safely and in accordance with government guidance.

You may choose to pursue higher-level qualifications through one of our Degree Apprenticeships such as Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Bioscience or Applied Chemical Science.

Please note, due to the nature of this role, candidates must be 18+.
So how does the apprenticeship work?
At Tiro we're obsessed with changing lives through science and technology apprenticeships so we can't wait to have you on board.
Over 21 months, you'll devote a minimum of 6 hours of your working week on 'off the job' training.
This can include theory training (for example, virtual lessons & online learning), alongside practical training (for example shadowing, mentoring, & time spent writing assignments.
Together this will count towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship.
You'll be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro as well as an experienced mentor at Salvum Limited who together, will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you'll need to succeed in your career.
Being an apprentice is hands-on, so you'll get the chance to learn things you might otherwise not have experienced in a university or college environment.

You'll be earning a salary while you gain your qualifications, meaning no huge student loans to pay back at the end of the programme!

Eligibility   While we never want to hinder your job application process with obstacles, there are some minimum requirements you'll need to meet in order to do an apprenticeship, these are rules set by the UK Government.
You'll need to be over 18 (for this role), not in full time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years and have the right to work in the UK.
