About the job Job summary The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants.
Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations.
Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff.

The Field Army HQ vision is to modernise a more productive force at enhanced readiness to warfight and operate, deploying globally at speed and relevance whilst transforming constantly.
The Information Manager role is required to support the Fd Army vision by providing expert advice on knowledge and information management including records management and the tools available to achieve this goal.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description The main outputs of the Information Manager role include: Act as the Fd Army HQ lead and subject matter expert on Information Management/Information Exploitation and Information Assurance, bringing coherence across the HQ, the Formations, and units of the Field Army whilst ensuring compliance against legislation, Defence and Army policy.
Advise and support the Senior Information Officer in achieving their objectives on improving the information process and exploitation of information across the headquarters and the wider Field Army Seek, exploit and monitor information activities and opportunities ensuring compliance with legislation, MOD and Army policies.
Prepare for capability enhancements.
Review and update the Information Management Plan and Directive for the HQ and publish annually for inclusion in the business continuity plan for the HQ.
Provide training/briefings on collaborative working environment, improve electronic ways of working.
Provide leadership & direction to Fd Army HQ information Hub (iHub) and iHubs across the Command.
Line Management of the Fd Army HQ Information Support Officers.
Carry out Records Management (RM) activities ensuring the iHub carryout retention and review processes correctly.
Ensure that the secure storage and transmission of information (in particular protectively marked material) are widely understood and rigorously followed within the organisation.
In accordance with Army policy provide assurance for classified material with a monthly 10% assurance audit.
Proficient in maintenance of the MOD document system MS 365 SharePoint, subject matter expert for HQ and wider Command, providing training sessions.
Establish and maintain information assurance and risk management for the HQ and advise across the Command.
Remotely supporting operational record keeping and activities to the support operations lead from Land Operations Command.
Person specification Essential Criteria: The successful candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills Good attention to detail and the ability to manage their own workload Strong interpersonal skills Be able to provide an excellent level of service and administration support, with highest level of accuracy A good understanding of Microsoft applications.
Desirable criteria: Previous experience of knowledge and information management including the Data Protection Act '18 Experience in an IT service environment.

This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments.
Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
