What the Job Involves Assessing the needs of service users to support people with visual impairments in maximizing their independence.
Arranging for assessments, rehabilitation services, and care management within the framework of Council Policy and relevant legislation.
Managing your own case load using a rehabilitation approach to improve and maintain clients' independence.
Providing technical assistance, advice, and support to visually impaired people and their families or carers.
Teaching orientation, mobility skills, and practical living skills to visually impaired clients.
Recommending and overseeing the use of adaptive equipment after assessing clients' needs.
Advising on welfare rights, entitlements, and leisure activities related to visual impairment.
Maintaining case records and documentation in line with departmental procedures.
Liaising with other council departments, community organizations, hospitals, schools, and other relevant agencies.
Participating in meetings, contributing to policy development, and engaging in professional training and development.
Ensuring compliance with the Council's Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies.
