As a ZEC Technician - Animal Care you will play a pivotal role in the success of our students;Role: Animal Technician (Zoological Centre)Location: Shuttleworth Camus- Old WardenSalary/Benefits: Hourly rate of £11:44 per hourHours/Weeks: 37 hoursPlease not that previous applicants are advised not to reapplyAbout the role:The Bedford College Group are currently seeking an Animal Technician join our Zoological Centre at our Shuttleworth campus, Old wardenAs an Animal Technician, you will play a key role in the success of our students through:Maintaining professional presentation and standards at the centreParticipating in the care of all species of animals housed at the centreCommunicating effectively and work proactively as part of a teamContributing to maintaining high standards of animal welfare and assist in the development and enrichment of animal enclosures and accommodationUndertaking administration of veterinary medicines under direction from the unit manager when requiredIdeal candidates will have: Level 3 qualification in relevant subject (Animal Management / Animal Science)English and mathematics or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent Industry experience of subject sector applying to teachRelevant current vocational experience in the animal care sector Experience of caring for a wide range of animals to include farm, pet and exotic species (chelonian, snakes, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and exotic mammals)Knowledge of legislation relevant to the UK animal care industryEvidence of high performance in previous roles/jobsExperience of working effectively with people from diverse backgroundsEvidence of understanding how to promote equality and diversity within the job roleAbility to effectively research, develop and implement new learning materials to engage students in learningAbility to extend students learning experience by developing and implementing appropriate vocational opportunities.Responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and for raising any concernsWillingness to travel to and work at all locations where we provide a serviceSuccessful candidates must also be able to demonstrate alignment to our organisational values: Student centred - At our heart is always doing what is best for our students.
