Adult Critical Care Sister/Charge Nurse - Band 6We are recruiting for experienced band 6 nurses with a post graduate qualification in critical care to join RCN Team of the Year 2021 Winners, Adult Critical Care Unit at the Royal London Hospital.
We are on the frontline in London's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and are expanding our critical care capacity to support the backlog of complex surgical patients awaiting elective surgery alongside our trauma and emergency patients while continuing to care for patients suffering from Covid-19.
Our staff will rotate across all critical care areas.
As the UK's largest trauma centre, our ACCU unit leads the trauma network for North East London and Essex.
It is a leading specialist centre with an international reputation for caring for some of the most seriously injured patients in London and beyond.
Main duties of the jobWorking within a highly skilled, dynamic multi-disciplinary team in our busy 60 bedded Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU), which accommodates both level 3 and level 2 patients.
This is an excellent opportunity for energetic, enthusiastic staff nurses with at least 6 months acute experience to provide a high standard of care to patients within a challenging, yet supportive acute hospital setting.
Professional development is very important to us, and we offer you the opportunity to undertake the band 5/6 development pathways, critical care course, neurosciences critical care course/ILS/ALS, and support staff on their degree/masters pathways in collaboration with City University for an accredited Trauma Course in-house.

Job responsibilitiesTo provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter-professional team.
As a proficient practitioner in critical care, the post holder acts as a professional role model and clinical teacher, providing effective mentorship and preceptorship while participating in the education and training of nursing and non-nursing staff.
The post holder also takes charge of the Intensive Care Unit as required, liaising closely with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with continuing responsibility.
