Description Job Description & Person Specification > Torbay Council is seeking a suitable candidate to work in our admissions team.
This role is a part time position.
As part of the team you will work to review applications for school placements, working directly with families and school admission colleagues to ensure that children and young people are able to access school placements.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the admissions processes, have good administrative skills and be proficient in the use of  IT.
As a forward facing role, you will need excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form, You must be able to prioritise work, be organised and committed to providing an excellent service in a fast paced environment.
The successful candidate will benefit from working with highly supportive colleagues.

Successful candidates will receive support and access to training.
This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check.
This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.

Skills Essential: Well-developed ICT skills.
Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills – ability to convey information accurately, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to deal with a range of customers with differing needs and abilities.
Thorough, organised, and methodical approach to work.
Ability to work to deadlines.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge Essential: Basic knowledge of schools/types and functions.
Experience & Qualifications Essential: 4 GCSEs A-C or equivalent including Maths and English.
Experience of working in an office environment.
Experience in the use of IT packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and the Internet.
